Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Reif Center Dance Program to cultivate and advance the art of dance through quality education at all levels through ongoing classes and performances

It is our vision to extend the program throughout Northern Minnesota, providing quality dance education to outlying rural areas through dance classes, lecture demonstrations and student company performances.

Curriculum

Classes are offered through two tracks of study; one track to meet the needs of the serious dance student, the other to meet the needs of the recreational student.  Both tracks offer students strong technical training rooted in classical ballet and extending into contemporary forms of dance.

In addition to local artists, students are given exposure to nationally known dance professionals including dancers, choreographers and teachers.  These experiences offer students the opportunity to sample a variety of dance styles taught by renowned guest artists.

As students progress in their levels of training and ability they are offered opportunities to gain performance experience.  In addition to a variety of formal and informal student performances, the program offers the upper level students the opportunity to audition for a dance student performing company.

The Company

Established in 1994 to give Performance Division students an opportunity to have a more authentic experience of how a dancer works.  The vision for The Company is that it serve as an ambassador for the dance program, providing motivation and incentive for all developing young artists.  The Company performs at special events at home and in neighboring communities.
