March 2001
Linda Palmer
Local artist Linda Palmer is the featured artist in the Gallerys art around
the world displays in March. We are exhibiting her work in oils and pastels, which she did
in Mexico, as well as some of her Northern Minnesota scenes.
Linda became interested in painting as a high school student in Iowa. She enrolled
in an oil painting class and was influenced by the work of Grant Woods. Linda went on to
Parsons College to major in Art Education. During a visit to the Chicago Institute of Art
she was intrigued by the Impressionist technique and traveled to Paris where she was
accepted at Le Sorbonne.
The Grand Rapids native came home to raise her family and returned to painting as
therapy to deal with the loss of her husband of 30 years. She is a past president of the
Itasca Art Association.
