Elizabeth White - "De-coding Abstract Art"
Elizabeth White describes her art as "Non-realistic" or "abstract".
She explains, "I find that abstract art is about the process of
painting, as opposed to realist painting, where the viewer can
compare the work to a known subject".
Her
exhibit at the Reif Center features 16 paintings including "Canyon
Roja" (an acrylic/paper piece), "Time Fractured" (an
acrylic/canvas piece), "Words Falling, Falling, Falling" and
"Seventh Moon".
When
asked about her inspiration to paint, Elizabeth stated, "My ideas
come from nature's shapes, forms or patterns. The colors
are from within myself; each piece is wide open to the viewer's
interpretation".
