Artist's Statement

I have been working as an artist for thirty years mostly doing painting and drawing.  I have also worked extensively in handmade paper.  My imagery is derived from nature, personal experiences, study of ancient cultures and a desire to tell stories.  For me, each picture is a story.  I am inspired by the natural world, particularly by animals, and frequently use animal symbols.   My painting alludes to my interest in life as a journey.  I see the birds as observers.  My work has been enriched by my life experiences, travel, theatre, dance and literature.
