Donna LaBeau I love to paint! I love the rich butteryness of oil paints on linen, but equally love the wash effects of watercolor and the ability to 'push the pigments.' Some say I am a natural teacher. It may be because painting is my passion, feeds my soul, and I love talking about the process almost as much as doing it. I am a classically trained artist through the Atelier LeSeuer and Minnesota River School of Fine Art. My approach to art is to capture the essence of nature in the moment of its utmost beauty. "en plein air" painting offers me this possibility. My philosophy is best expressed by Gibraun: "Nature is far too great and subtle to be successfully imitates...The business of art is...to convey the soul of the tree rather than to produce a fruitful likeness..." I am a member of OPA. I have exhibited in many shows; am an award winning artist and have shown work all over the Twin Cities and suburbs. You can see my work at, MacRostie Arts Center in Grand Rapids, MN, Macy's Look Gallery, Edina, MN, Just for the Season, Holiday Inn, Duluth, MN and my studio. My work can also be seen at my website, donnalabeau.biz. |
