Residencies & Workshops

In addition to presenting extraordinary performances, the Reif Center is also committed to expanding arts education throughout the region. One way we do this is by orchestrating a number of workshops and residencies with our performers for local groups. In 2009-2010 alone we have seen the Reif Dance Company work with professional dancers from the James Sewell Ballet Company (including James Sewell himself!); Native American Studies students from GRHS participated in a cultural exchange with the Japanese drummers of Mu Daiko; students in the Itasca Orchestra and Strings Program play alongside the members of the Johannes String Quartet and Tonic Sol Fa will be spending an afternoon coaching some singers from the GRHS Choral Program.
It is through providing these unique experiences that we cement the importance of the arts in the life of our community.

Young and old take a chance to hit the Taiko drums with Mu Daiko.
