All
six members of Duluth–based Fermata Nowhere studied
vocal jazz at University of Minnesota- Duluth. While at UMD,
they were part of UMD’s highly-regarded vocal jazz ensemble,
Lake Effect, that was named the Outstanding Performance of
College Vocal Jazz Choirs in 2006 by DownBeat
magazine.
Fermata, for
short, performs a growing number of secular, pop, and
off-beat pieces, and promise to provide an energetic and
musically expressive program that will please all ages!

“Dress
smart, act casual, look like you know what you are doing,
and wait for somebody to count to four” is one humorous take
on the George Maurer Trio’s approach to having fun on
stage. From the Beatles to bebop, Gershwin to Led Zepplin,
swing to Bob Marley, and beyond, there is no musical style
left untouched by this ensemble, a gathering of several well
dressed friends who play jazz the way it was meant to be —
by the seat of their pants.
