As part of our 25th Anniversary
improvements we built an orchestra pit in the auditorium and
additional dressing room and storage (including a piano rehearsal
room for the Steinway) behind the theater.

You can start to see the shape of the new pit. The wood and concrete in the middle is the front of the trap room that will eventually be removed. In the trap room underneath the stage they have started constucting a new support wall for the orchestra pit. The trap room is so named because sections of the stage floor can come out to provide access to this area for special effects...think of the witch melting through the floor for The Wizard of Oz. The apron extension was put in as a temporary filler for the Grand Rapids Players production of Fiddler on the Roof in the year 2000. Five years later it's coming out so that we can build our orchestra pit.
