We’re approaching a very exciting time of year: the holiday season is upon us, our dance students and staff are hard at work making preparations for our annual Nutcracker production, any day we can expect our first snowfall, and our Reif on the Road season is quickly coming to a close. With each day we check-off on the calendar, we draw closer and closer to our Grand Reopening. Only three months to go!

While the details of construction and capital campaigning have kept us very busy over the last year, it’s important to note the many other projects the Reif Center has been working on. Since the start of our fiscal year, the organization has brought on 4 new, full-time staff (3 for Reif Dance, and a new Box Office Manager). We continue our partnership with the James Sewell Ballet in Minneapolis, which offers unique opportunities for our dance students. That partnership was essential to providing a two-week summer dance intensive at the Cowles Center for 20 girls. The Reif Center and Itasca Orchestra and Strings Program worked together to secure a highly-competitive grant from Chamber Music America that will impact hundreds of school students, orchestra musicians, and other community members in the first quarter of 2016. There have been other arts residency projects as well, notably a week-long tour with the band Rogue Valley to schools across the region. Fundraising for our Bus Fund, which subsidizes transportation from schools to daytime performances at the Reif, is off to a strong start. We are halfway towards our $10,000 fundraising goal. Our Annual Fund for 2014-2015 met projections, raising just over $60,000 – a stellar feat in the midst of a capital campaign. Our 2015-2016 Annual Fund will be kicking off shortly. The Reif Center has completed a thorough internal analysis of our current ticketing system, and has made a plan to upgrade to a new system for 2016-2017. This will be a huge undertaking, migrating years of patron data and history! In addition, and despite our lack of venue, we’ve continued presenting performances with Reif on the Road. It has been a full year!

All of these projects, which have taken a back seat recently, are what the Reif Center is all about. So, believe me when I say, we couldn’t be more excited to move home and redirect our energy to the things that matter most!

Keep your eyes out for our Grand Reopening Season announcement coming in early January. We have great things in store for you this spring.

A huge thank you to all of On the Road patrons, Annual Fund and Bus Fund contributors, dance families, community partners, and staff who have given so much to us this year. Thanks also to those designers, builders, committee members, grantors, and Capital Campaign contributors who are working hard to provide for our future. This organization is sincerely grateful . Where would the Reif Center be without you?

We hope you enjoy the excitement this time of year brings!
