In Deconstructing The Music LIVE: Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon, Scott Freiman, host of the Public Television series Deconstructing the Beatles, celebrates Pink Floyd’s groundbreaking 1973 album with his first non-Beatles “deconstruction.” Scott will take you on a track-by-track journey through this Pink Floyd masterpiece, explaining the inspiration for the songs and their evolution in the studio.
Dark Side of the Moon is a concept album that explores themes of life, death, time, and the human experience. The album features nine tracks that seamlessly flow into each other, creating a cohesive and immersive listening experience. Musically, the album pushed the boundaries of rock music, incorporating elements of jazz, classical, and experimental music. The use of innovative studio techniques, such as the incorporation of spoken word samples and sound effects, further added to the album’s sonic depth and complexity. Dark Side’s seamless transitions between tracks and use of recurring musical themes created a cohesive and immersive listening experience that has solidified its place as one of the most iconic and influential albums in the history of music.
Using rare audio and video clips, as well as anecdotes about the creation of the songs, Deconstructing The Dark Side of the Moon explores the groundbreaking production techniques that went into producing this landmark piece of music history. About Scott Freiman
Scott Freiman is a composer, a musician, and a software entrepreneur. He is the creator of Deconstructing The Music, a series of multimedia presentations about the composition and production techniques of The Beatles and other musicians. Scott has presented his lectures to sold out audiences throughout North America at theaters, museums and corporations, such as Pixar, Google, and Facebook. Scott has also lectured at colleges and universities and has taught a 13-part course at Yale University entitled “The Beatles in The Studio.” He co-hosts the monthly Fab Four Master Class with fellow musicologist Kenneth Womack with whom he leads occasional Beatles-themed trips to Liverpool and London. He is the co-author (with Kenneth Womack) of The Beatles’ Touring Era: Inside the Fab Four’s Musical Artistry, Song by Song, 1962-1966, coming from Bloomsbury press in September 2026.
Scott is featured in eleven Deconstructing the Beatles films currently showing in theatres and available on DVD and streaming. Season two of his PBS TV series, Deconstructing the Beatles, can be seen on most PBS stations and the PBS Passport app.

Andreas Klein is widely admired as a pianist of rare sensitivity and musicality. The Washington Post has praised his “articulate and flowing pianism” while the New York Times called him “a pianist who makes silences sound like music.” About a recent Glenn Gould tribute (with the Minguet String Quartet), the Calgary Herald reported, “(Klein brings) to his performance a mature understanding…as well as a brilliant execution”, while Classical Voice of North Carolina (CVNC) was even more blunt: “Andreas Klein is a stupendous pianist…a stunning performance by any standard, and it brought the audience to its feet in a rousing ovation.”
He has performed in many of the leading houses of Europe, from Wigmore Hall in London to the Berlin Philharmonie, as well as Carnegie Hall in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and is at home with the grandeur of playing with the Berlin Philharmonic or the vast reaches of the Ravinia Festival (where he received two standing ovations) as he is with the intimacy of Le Poisson Rouge (NYC). He has extensively toured North America, with ensembles including the Salzburg Chamber Soloists (a 20-city tour) and the Festival Strings of Lucerne (10 cities) and in South America, where he performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 in Peru, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, and Brazil. Some exotic places on his concert tours included Damascus and Yerevan.
Since his meteoric start in his native Germany, performing recitals and as soloist with orchestra, he eventually answered the call to go to the Juilliard School in New York. But the highly focussed and musical approach to every work he performs was nurtured by one of his early teachers, the great Claudio Arrau. It is a philosophy Klein is credited with continuing.

Olivia Diercks and Karla Peters – cellist and violinist of the new-classical crossover duo, The OK Factor – have one word to describe their musical connection: lucky. The almost telepathic way they respond to one another is palpable to the audiences they capture during performances, as is their spontaneity and joy. Organic and genuine, their original compositions and arrangements feel both comfortingly familiar and uniquely fresh, and have been described as “genre-bending” (Julie Amacher, MPR) and “pure magic” (Wausau Pilot & Review).
In their 10+ years of writing, performing, and touring, The OK Factor has honed the ways they impact communities outside the concert hall. Residency work has become a deep passion – sharing intimate performances, conducting outreach activities, and leading workshops for students through their education initiative, ATLAS. Olivia and Karla are also sought-after collaborators and composers-in-residence, having worked with many regional, national, and international artists, and various digital music libraries.
The OK Factor’s distinct compositional and performance style, and dedication to educational outreach, awarded them a Minnesota State Arts Board Arts Education Grant for the 2024 school year, and an Artist Fellowship for Scandinavian Folk Arts and Cultural Traditions through the American Scandinavian Foundation in 2020. The duo has produced five studio albums of their original pieces and arrangements: Water Street (‘14), That’s Enough of That (‘16), Have Yourself an OK Christmas (‘17), Season’s Greetings (‘20), and OKX (‘23).

Adam Moe is a fiddler and singer/songwriter based in Duluth, MN. In 2012, he started the folky-tonk duo Pushing Chain with a former musical partner. For the next eight years, Pushing Chain toured the US and Canada, playing venues big and small and gaining fans the old-fashioned way — face to face, one at a time. Born and raised in Minnetonka, Minnesota, Frankie Torres grew up with a diverse combination of musical inspirations. The foundation of her music stands on classic rock and the blues, which she grew up singing in bars starting at the age of 8 years old. She has performed at many notable venues including Summerfest in Milwaukee and Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, and was a contestant on Season 26 of NBC’s The Voice in 2024. She loves performing as a cover artist, and started releasing her original music in 2020, which is available for streaming on all platforms.
