Musical theater lovers, REJOICE! Veteran musical theater vocalists Bruce Ewing and Kristen Hertzenberg, along with Broadway Musical Director and Pianist, Philip Fortenberry, will present an evening of songs from such classic composers as Rogers & Hammerstein, Irving Berlin and the Gershwins to contemporary writers Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sondheim and Lin Manuel Miranda. Bruce and Kristen’s lighthearted performance includes a glimpse into the shows of yesteryear through the present day, as they croon tunes from ‘Oklahoma’ and ‘Hello, Dolly!’ to ‘Hamilton’ and ‘Dear Evan Hansen,’ each artfully accompanied by the brilliant Fortenberry at the piano. If your budget doesn’t support a trip to The Big Apple, you can expect this delightful experience will scratch your Broadway itch!

Itasca Life Options | Painting + Sculpture opens Jan. 14 and runs through Feb. 25, in the Reif Gallery. The opening reception takes place on Jan. 19 from 11am – 12pm, and the public is encouraged to attend to this free event.

This colorful and playful exhibition will feature leaf paintings and public art sculptures created by Itasca Life Options (ILO) artists in collaboration with Aaron Squadroni and David Browne. An organization dedicated to empowering and providing opportunities to people of all abilities, ILO supports artists with developmental and physical disabilities by providing art materials and classes and coordinating exhibition opportunities. Squadroni is a local designer and artist who spends his days exploring the landscape of the region and creating art about the places he encounters. Browne has been creating art for over 40 years, his process-driven approach combines both traditional and non-traditional media and materials through his work in weaving, painting, and sculpture.

Gaelynn Lea won NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Contest in 2016, and not long after she took to the road. Since then, she has toured in 45 states and 9 countries, captivating audiences around the world with her unique mix of haunting original songs and traditional fiddle tunes. Gaelynn Lea has appeared in several major festivals, including SXSW and Winnipeg Folk Festival. She’s also opened for well-known bands such as Wilco, The Decemberists, LOW, and the industrial rock supergroup Pigface.
Most recently, Gaelynn Lea composed the original music for a Broadway production of Macbeth starring Daniel Craig and Ruth Negga. This iconic Shakespeare play was directed by Sam Gold and was nominated for three Tony Awards, including Best Sound Design.
Concert will be followed by a Q&A with Gaelynn Lea.

The Jimmys feature band leader Jimmy Voegeli--phenomenal Hammond B-3 keyboardist, singer and songwriter; an experienced killer rhythm section steeped in blues with Perry Weber on guitar, Chris Sandoval on drums, and John Wartenwieler on bass. The icing on the cake is the best horn section in the Midwest—Pete Ross on saxophone, Mike Boman on trumpet, and Joe Goltz on trombone. It doesn’t get any better than this–The Jimmys will deliver!

This tribute to Paul McCartney is a great retrospective celebrating one of the most prolific careers in the history of pop and rock music! Wings Over America: A Tribute to Paul McCartney and Wings, is based primarily on the Wings 1976 live album, “Wings Over America.” It also includes several Beatles tunes (Blackbird, Yesterday, The Long and Winding Road), and some Moody Blues and McCartney solo tunes.
This show is brought to you by members of the Collective Unconscious who brought you The Beatles’ Abbey Road, A Doobie Brothers Tribute and Takin’ It To The Limit: A Tribute to the Eagles (with the Fabulous Armadillos). Joining the Collective Unconscious for this event are members of Blimp, a local Led Zeppelin tribute band that’s been rocking central Minnesota stages for over 10 years. Every single one of these musicians is a professional in their own right - it’s a “who’s who” in Minnesota Music!
