It was roughly a decade ago that Pert Near Sandstone first gathered around a microphone in a Minneapolis basement to record their debut album, Up And Down The River. So much has happened since then: highs and lows, personal struggles and artistic triumphs, new faces and new sounds. The winding road they’ve traveled over the years makes it all the more meaningful for the band to come full circle on their dazzling new release, Discovery Of Honey, which finds them once again recording in a basement and reuniting with founding member Ryan Young, who’s spent the past seven years touring the world playing fiddle with bluegrass stars Trampled By Turtles.

Ragamala Dance Company – Sacred Earth
Sacred Earth explores the interconnectedness between human emotions and the environment that shapes them. Performed with live music, the dancers create a sacred space to honor the divinity in the natural world and the sustenance we derive from it. Inspired by the philosophies behind the ephemeral arts of kolam and Warli painting and the Tamil Sangam literature of India, Sacred Earth is Ranee and Aparna Ramaswamy’s singular vision of the beautiful, fragile relationship between nature and man.

The Tony Award winning Best Musical, Monty Python’s Spamalot, begins its search for the Holy Grail. This outrageous musical comedy is lovingly ripped off from the film classic “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”
With a book by Eric Idle and music and lyrics by the Grammy Award winning team of Mr. Idle and John Du Prez, Spamalot tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. Flying cows, killer rabbits, taunting Frenchmen, and show-stopping musical numbers are just a few of the reasons audiences worldwide are eating up SPAMALOT!

Reif Dance Company is made up of the most dedicated and talented dancers who audition for a place in the company, or, for the younger students, the Jr. Company. The Company Show brings together original, classical, contemporary, and modern dance, presenting works by professional choreographers as well as student choreography. It also features solos from our senior students who have been with us many years and are going off to college next year. This year we will have choreography by Deirdre Murnane (Reif Dance Director), Julia Sutton, Stephanie Karr Smith, Christina Anderson, Arimee Gambill (one of our alumni who is now apprenticing with James Sewell Ballet in Minneapolis), as well as many of the Dancers themselves. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to branch out and have the opportunity to work with each other as choreographers as well as dancers.
Adult tickets $16, child/student ticket $9

Mamma Mia! Presented by Grand Rapids Players
“Mamma Mia!” tells the story of Sophia Sheridan, a 20-year-old who lives with her mother on an idyllic Greek island. She is about to be married and wishes for only one thing: That her dad could walk her down the aisle. The only problem is that she doesn’t know who her dad is! And her mother, the former lead singer of the 1970s pop group Donna and the Dynamos, refuses to talk about it.
Left with no other options, Sophie decides to take matters into her own hands. Sneaking a peek in her mother’s old diaries, she discovers three possibilities: Sam, Bill and Harry; an American architect, an Australian adventurer, and a British banker. She secretly invites all three to the wedding, convinced that she will know him as soon as she sees him.
The gentlemen arrive and Sophia soon realizes that she hasn’t a clue. Told through the 1970s legendary music of ABBA, “Mamma Mia!” has become a worldwide sensation that has audiences everywhere dancing in the aisles.
